LOUISIANA NATIVE NAMED
ORVA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Brig. Gen. David Weeks,
The Ouachita River Valley
Association (ORVA) announces the selection of Mr. David
Weeks as its Executive Director. Mr. Weeks recently retired
from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center,
Vicksburg, Mississippi, where he served as a Program Analyst
for the Executive Office, Information Technology Laboratory.
Mr. Weeks retires with more than 32 years of federal
He also retired as a Brigadier General from the U.S. Army
where he served as an Engineer Officer in both active and
reserve status, in peace and war, for more than 35 years.
A graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a B.S. in
Accounting, Mr. Weeks also holds a Master's Degree in
Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. A
Tallulah, Louisiana, native, David and his wife Cindy
currently reside in East Carroll Parish.
Mr. Weeks is fully committed to the mission of ORVA:
promoting the development of water and land resources
projects that are engineered and economically feasible,
environmentally sustainable and publicly acceptable that
enhance the general welfare of the people in the Ouachita
River basin in Arkansas, Louisiana and the Nation.
While the major focus of the Association is on the
operation, maintenance and completion of the Ouachita-Black
Rivers navigation project and associated infrastructure, the
Association also supports economic development projects
throughout the basin.
