As David Richardson makes plans to retire as the Manager of the Camden Water Utilities, he has also indicated his intent to step down as the Ouachita River Valley Association (ORVA) Secretary Treasurer. An ORVA member for more than 14 years, he has held the position of Secretary/Treasurer for more than 10 years.
During ORVA’s November 2024 board meeting, Mr. Richardson was presented with a plaque honoring his many years of service to the Association. Pictured at left is President Randy Denmon, Mr. Richardson, and David Weeks, ORVA Executive Director.
Dr. Corbet Lamkin, one of ORVA’s seven Arkansas board members, will assume duties as the Secretary/Treasurer effective January 1, 2025. Dr. Lamkin, a retired educator, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the ORVA board.
The Association was first organized in 1893 as the Ouachita River Improvement Association and in 1950, renamed the Ouachita River Valley Association, or ORVA, as it is commonly called. The sole purpose of the Association then, and now, is to obtain a year-round navigation system on the Ouachita River in Arkansas and Louisiana.
