During the period 9-11 March, members of the Ouachita
River Valley Association (ORVA) will meet with their
Congressional representatives from both Arkansas and
Louisiana. The purpose of their visit is to present and
discuss issues relevant to the economy and people within the
Ouachita River Basin.
Topics will include dredging, routine
maintenance of the River, lock and dam operations,
recreation and tourism. The Association enjoys a tremendous
and successful relationship with the Congressional
delegations and their staffs as they work together for the
benefit of the people of Arkansas and Louisiana.
Planning is currently underway for the Ouachita River
Valley Association’s 55th Annual Conference. This year’s
conference will be held at the West Monroe Convention Center
in West Monroe, Louisiana 27-28 August 2020.
Key presentations will include the “Economic
Impacts on Arkansas and Louisiana of the Ouachita River”,
“The Ouachita River and US Army Corps of Engineers
Operations”, “North Louisiana and the Ouachita River Basin”
and discussion of the President’s Budget and its’ impact on
the Corps’ Ouachita Basin Lakes, dredging, locks and dams,
and current and future operations on the Ouachita River.
We expect a “Save the Calendar Update” to be
mailed on or about March 15, 2020.
